Minimalism

1980–

In recent decades, architecture has not adhered to a particular, characteristic style, going instead in many directions. It has received a number of monikers, including neo-modernism, deconstructivism, minimalism and pragmatism. Minimalism and neo-modernism encompass almost everything, however, and as the name suggests, neo-modernism is a revival of modernist tendencies.

The keywords are minimalism, a fluid definition of space, large glass façades and a show of constraint with the use of colour. Buildings that fall into the categories minimalism and neo-modernism can appear vastly disparate; some are very distinct and belong to deconstructivism or pragmatism.
