Art Nouveau

1895–1915

The closely related movements Art Nouveau (France), Jugendstil (Germany) and Arts and Crafts (England) were against Historicism and its emulations. They sought to unite architecture and the decorative arts, and placed emphasis on skilled, traditional craftspersonship, authenticity of materials, and forms and decoration inspired by nature.

The windows of these styles often contained glass in multiple colours and featured motifs from nature.
