Tivoli window

A long, narrow aperture in the stone of the Temple of Vesta in Tivoli, Italy; constructed around 80 BCE. The opening is framed by profiled stone. The window from Tivoli was an inspiration for architects of the Renais-sance, Baroque and New Classicism who copied and re-interpreted it.
