Bottom-hung and top-hung window

Bottom-hung and top-hung windows were developed around 1890.

Bottom-hung windows have an operable sash and bottom-mounted hinges where the sash meets the frame. Top-hung windows have an operable sash and top-mounted hinges where the sash meets the frame.
