During the middle of the 17th century, Louis de Nehou a glass craftsman developed a technique of casting and rolling plate of mirror glass which was produced for the Versailles castle Hall of Mirrors. Louis de Nehou became the first managing director of the royal glass works in Saint Gobain in Paris in 1693.
